The Society
Cine-Retro Film Society's big screen evenings will transport you to a bygone era in picture-going!
This time of narrative sound films from the 1920's to the 1950's was a world of atmosphere,
fantasy, glamour and intrigue - an age of screen heroes and heroines that were idolized by millions.
This was a period of a gargantuan volume of production particularly in America and Britain,
when cinema was king as an entertainment medium.
The Society was established in early 2003 screening in Rosalie Hall.
We commenced evenings in our present venue - The Old Museum Building - in January 2005
We aim to foster an appreciation of western narrative film in presenting this genre in it's original big screen format
in an atmosphere that is fun, relaxed and friendly.
We utilize film as our preferred format. Our presentations are of a quality standard utilizing professional quality projection and dedicated cinema audio equipment.
Majority of our screening prints kindly supplied by the National Film and Sound Archive, Canberra
