THE GAY DIVORCEE (1934)

Directed by Mark Sandrich. 107mins.

Stars Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Edward Everett Horton, Alice Brady, Erik Rhodes, Eric Blore, Betty Grable.

A woman assumes that a man who is showing a keen interest in her is the man her lawyer has hired as co-respondent in her upcoming divorce.

Initially first cast to do one number together in 1933’s “Flying Down To Rio”, RKO saw tremendous screen chemistry with dancing duo subsequently being given first billing in this most entertaining film the following year.

A virtual art deco time capsule which showcases RKO’s trademark sleek art direction as a background to one of Astaire and Rogers best vehicles which includes the unforgettable “Night And Day”, and the show-stopping 17 minute “The Continental” (winning the first Academy Award for “Best Song”) in addition to a early rare featured appearance by 16 year old Betty Grable.

Presented in sparkling HD and superb audio from our vintage cinema sound system.
